Let our knowledgeable guide and immersive storytelling cast you back into a world of exciting tales of spies, tragic love stories and assassinations on the streets over 100 years ago in the city.

You will also visit local attractions such as the Red Haired Girl Mural, Nano Nagle Place and Red Abbey. This tour is perfect for getting your bearing in the city and discovering things to do.

You'll also get to meet a local Cork City legend (most days). And you'll be invited for a drink in one of Cork's oldest pubs.

Meeting Point: Berwick Fountain, Grand Parade, Centre, Cork, Ireland.

Meet at the Berwick fountain on the Grand Parade in Cork city - near the English Market. Your tour guide (Dara) will be there wearing his 1920’s-inspired outfit. You can’t miss him.

If you are arriving in Cork by Ferry or by Cruise Ship, pls. inform us beforehand so we can guide you. You can take a short taxi/train journey into city center.

Setting the scene:

The tour begins with an introduction to Ireland's struggle for independence. Told through the lens of the War of Independence in Cork City.

Tragic tales of love and loss. Exciting ambushes on the streets. Daring tales of assassination. Recounting the story from both sides of the struggle.

The Killing of Tadhg O'Sullivan:

Tadhg - a local GAA (Irish football) star - and tough guerrilla fighter, is a being hunted by the authorities after participating in the Barrack Street ambush nearby. We find out what happened to young Tadhg on Douglas Street.

The Assassination of the police commissioner: We relive the assassination of British Crown police commissioner Smyth in the Cork City country club on South Mall: 'Shoot on sight' Smyth was a controversial figure in the city. We talk a little about his background.

The Burning of Cork: Cork city, burned to the ground by Crown forces. Find out what happened and why.

Cork city's most tragic love story: Michael Fitzgerald, a young Irish fighter in the struggle was captured in battle. After going on hunger strike his dying wish was to be married to his love - Miss Condon. We find out what happened next.

Learn about two high-level spies operating intelligence headquarters right under the nose of the British army. These two young entrepreneurs were the eyes-and-ears of the Cork Brigade of Rebels. What secret kept them safe?
